On the morning of Tuesday, June 24, 2025, CUFE Business School successfully held the 18th Session of 2025 Excellent Academic Forum at the MBA Center of the Xueyuan South Road Campus. Professor Xinming He from Durham University was invited as the keynote speaker. Teachers, doctoral students, and master’s students of CUFE Business School participated in the event.
The lecture was hosted by Professor Gu Leilei, Director of the Marketing Department of CUFE Business School. Before the lecture, Professor Gu briefly introduced Professor Xinming He’s background. Professor Xinming He obtained his PhD from King’s College London (UK). He is currently a Professor at Durham University (UK, QS Top 100), Director of the "Global Studies Centre", Member of the University Ethics Committee, HEI Consultant for Study UK at the British Council, and Visiting Professor at the Xiamen University Economics School. His main research areas include international business, international strategy, export performance, digitalization and internationalization performance. He has published dozens of papers in international academic journals such as Journal of Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of World Business, Journal of Business Research, and Journal of International Marketing.
The theme of Professor Xinming He’s lecture was "Publishing in Top International Journals". He analogized paper publication to a marketing process: the lecture outlined key links such as how to conduct market research, positioning, and "product development" (paper writing), and highlighted key points to focus on in steps like literature review and data analysis. It also summarized the core characteristics of high-quality papers in terms of research motivation, research questions, and theoretical contributions. Additionally, the lecture analyzed specific reasons for "marketing failures" of papers (i.e., rejection) and issues to note during the paper revision and resubmission (R&R) process.
After the lecture, teachers and students present conducted lively discussions around the theme shared by Professor Xinming He, further deepening the exchange between academia and practice.
